Ingredients
- 2 oz Hennessy VS Cognac (original) Hennessy VS Cognac
- OR 2oz Rye Whiskey (modern) rye whiskey
- 1 sugar cube
- 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
- Splash of absinthe
- Lemon peel for garnish
How to make
- Rinse a chilled rocks glass with absinthe then discard the excess.
- In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube, water, and Peychaud’s.
- Add the whiskey or cognac (or both!) to the mixing glass and fill with ice.
- Stir well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
- Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared old-fashioned glass.
- Twist a piece of lemon peel over the glass to release the oils, rub it around the rim of the glass, then drop it in as a garnish.
